About Dryophytes arenicolor (Cope, 1866)

Canyon tree frogs (Dryophytes arenicolor) reach a length of 5.0–5.5 cm (2.0–2.2 in). Their base color is typically brown, grey-brown, or grey-green, and they often have darker blotched markings across their bodies. While their coloration can vary quite a lot, it usually matches the color of the soil or rock in their native habitats to provide camouflage. Individuals from limestone habitats are lighter in color, and individuals from regions that are mostly composed of granite can even show pink coloration. Most canyon tree frogs have bright yellow coloring in their groin regions, and faint faded banding on their legs.
