This species is endemic to New Zealand, but it occurs occasionally in Europe, specifically in the British Isles including Ireland, Germany, and Switzerland. The larva of Dryadaula pactolia feeds on the fungus Zasmidium cellare, which is found in wine cellars and breweries.
