About Drosera rupicola (N.G.Marchant) Lowrie
Drosera rupicola (N.G.Marchant) Lowrie is a tuberous perennial carnivorous plant species in the genus Drosera, endemic to Western Australia. This species produces 3 to 5 semi-erect lateral stems, which grow up to 15 centimeters long. It can be distinguished from all other members of the section Stolonifera by its turbinate tuber and mobile leaf blade that is capable of folding over captured prey. Its native range covers a large inland region of Western Australia, extending from Pithara to the area southeast of Hyden. It grows in loamy soils near granite outcrops, and flowers between July and October. It was first formally described by N. G. Marchant in 1982, when it was classified as a subspecies of Drosera stolonifera. Allen Lowrie elevated this taxon to full species rank in 2005.
