About Drosera brevifolia Pursh
Drosera brevifolia Pursh is usually a small plant, typically no more than 3 centimeters (1.2 in) across. Some individuals are known to grow up to 5 cm (2.0 in) across, and its flower spikes can reach up to 15 cm (5.9 in) tall. Its leaves are shaped obovate to spatulate, ranging from 7 to 16 millimeters in length. Compared to most carnivorous plants, this species is often found growing in drier areas. It tends to have a biennial life cycle. Its flowers are large relative to the plant's rosette, can be pink or white, and bloom in the spring. This species is distributed in the southeastern United States. Its range stretches from eastern Texas eastward to Florida, and extends north to Virginia. D. brevifolia has been observed growing in environments with wet, peaty, or sandy soils. It can be found in habitats including the edges of marshes, ponds, and swamps.
