About Drosanthemum floribundum (Haw.) Schwantes

Drosanthemum floribundum (Haw.) Schwantes is a succulent plant that belongs to the ice plant family, Aizoaceae. It has several common names: rodondo creeper, pale dewplant, and dew-flower. This species is native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It has become naturalized in Portugal, the Australian states of South Australia, Western Australia, and Victoria, and Pacific Grove, California, where it is referred to as the Magic Carpet.

It is a trailing perennial plant, with hairy stems and leaves that are either cylindrical or triangular in cross section. Its leaves measure between 3 and 15 mm in length, and 1 to 2.5 mm in width. The flowers can reach up to 2.5 cm in diameter, and are most often lavender or pink, and occasionally white.
