About Doto ussi Ortea, 1982

Doto ussi is a species of nudibranch first described by Ortea in 1982. This nudibranch typically has a mostly uniform colour ranging from yellow to pale olive-brown. Its ceratal tubercles are large and globular, and when the animal is at rest, these tubercles completely cover and obscure its back. This species was originally described from the Comoros Islands, located in the Indian Ocean. It has since been additionally reported from the Philippines and Indonesia. Doto ussi is found living on colonies of the stinging hydroid Aglaophenia cupressina, which belongs to the family Aglaopheniidae. It is presumed that Doto ussi feeds on this hydroid. Many other species in the genus Doto also feed on hydroids from the family Aglaopheniidae, and from other hydroid families within the superfamily Plumularioidea.
