About Doto ostenta Burn, 1958

This species of nudibranch, Doto ostenta, has a transparent white body with small scattered black spots and patches across its back and sides. Like other species in the genus Doto, it has cerata that bear moderately elongated tubercles, each of which has a black spot at its tip. The digestive gland located inside the cerata is pink cream in colour. Doto ostenta was first described from south-eastern Australia, and it occurs in the Australian states of Victoria and New South Wales, at depths ranging from 0 m to 85 m. This nudibranch is found living on hydroids, and it is thought to feed on these hydroids.
