About Doto fragilis (Forbes, 1838)

Doto fragilis (Forbes, 1838) is a species of nudibranch. The body of this nudibranch is mostly brown, with a series of pale patches running along its sides. This species was first described in 1838 from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea by prominent naturalist Edward Forbes. After its initial description, it has been recorded from all coasts around Britain and Ireland, along continental coasts south to Portugal, and throughout the Mediterranean Sea. In its ecosystem, Doto fragilis feeds on the hydroids Nemertesia antennina and Nemertesia ramosa, which belong to the family Plumulariidae.
