About Doriopsilla albopunctata (J.G.Cooper, 1863)

Doriopsilla albopunctata is a species of nudibranch. This sea slug can reach a maximum length of 60 mm, which is equivalent to 2+1⁄2 inches. Its body base color ranges from yellow, orange to brown, and it always has very small opaque white dots across its body. These white dots sit on the tips of raised tubercles, and also form circles around each tubercle. The rhinophores located at the head end of this nudibranch are yellow or orange-yellow. The gills, which form a rosette structure at the back of the body, are white or pale yellow. This species is distributed along the California coast from Mendocino to San Diego, and may also occur along the Pacific coast of the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico.
