About Doratifera pinguis (Walker, 1855)

Doratifera pinguis is a moth species belonging to the family Limacodidae. It is commonly called the pale cup moth, and is sometimes referred to as the painted cup moth, though that name is most often used for the related species Doratifera oxleyi. This species was first formally described by Francis Walker in 1855. It is found across the entire eastern seaboard of Australia. Males of the species have a wingspan of approximately 30 mm, while females have a wingspan of around 40 mm. The larvae of Doratifera pinguis feed on plants from the Eucalyptus genus.
