About Dolomedes okefinokensis Bishop, 1924
Description: Adult female Dolomedes okefinokensis have a body length of approximately 30 mm (1.2 inches), while adult males have a body length of approximately 8 mm (0.31 inches). This species is hard to distinguish from the closely related Dolomedes tenebrosus, which is slightly smaller. Range and habitat: Dolomedes okefinokensis is endemic to the Southeastern United States, with confirmed populations in Georgia and Florida, and possible populations also present in Alabama and Louisiana. The species lives in swampy habitats. It feeds primarily on aquatic insects, and will also eat small vertebrates.
