About Doloessa viridis Zeller, 1848

This species, Doloessa viridis Zeller, 1848, has a wingspan of approximately 20–24 mm. Males have pale brownish heads and thoraxes, and whitish abdomens. Their forewings are emerald green, with brown at the base and along the costa. A brown antemedial speck is located below the costa, and a second brown antemedial speck is found in the cell. A series of oblique brown patches runs from the discocellulars to the inner margin. Minutely dentate brown postmedial and submarginal bands extend from vein 6 to the inner margin; the postmedial band is excurved between veins 5 and 2. The cilia are brownish. The hindwings are whitish with a brown margin. The larvae of Doloessa viridis feed on Khaya ivorensis, Aglaia wallichii, Cocos nucifera, the seeds of Shorea, rice, Sorghum, and maize.
