About Dolichopoda azami Saulcy, 1893
Dolichopoda azami Saulcy, 1893, commonly known as Azam's cave-cricket, is a species of cave cricket belonging to the family Rhaphidophoridae. This species is distributed in the Southern Alps region of France, and the Piedmont, Liguria, and Lombardia regions of Italy. It inhabits a range of dark environments with stable temperatures and high humidity, including rocky forests, caves, damaged bridges or aqueducts, and abandoned or disused buildings, at elevations between 120 and 1,940 metres. It shelters in these habitats during the day and is mainly active at night. The IUCN Red List has assessed Dolichopoda azami as Least Concern. The species is common, has no documented major threats, and its range includes at least one protected area. Direct threats from human activity to this species are rare and are not thought to cause severe harm to its overall population.
