About Doellingeria sericocarpoides Small

Doellingeria sericocarpoides Small, commonly called the southern tall flat-topped aster, southern whitetop aster, and Pocosin flat-topped aster, is a North American perennial forb native to the eastern United States. Its distribution extends from eastern Texas and southeastern Oklahoma to northern Florida, and reaches north to New York State; populations are uncommon across the northern portion of this range. This perennial species grows up to 150 cm (5 feet) tall, and spreads via underground rhizomes. It can sometimes produce up to 200 small flower heads. Each individual flower head contains 2 to 7 white ray florets and 4 to 20 yellow disc florets.
