About Dodonaea multijuga G.Don

Dodonaea multijuga G.Don is an erect, dioecious shrub that typically reaches a maximum height of 1.5 meters (4 feet 11 inches). Its leaves are imparipinnate, measuring 20โ€“48 millimeters (0.79โ€“1.89 inches) in total length, and grow from a petiole 3.5โ€“8 millimeters (0.14โ€“0.31 inches) long. The leaves usually bear between 16 and 28 leaflets, which are shaped oblong to broadly egg-shaped or triangular with the narrower end oriented toward the base. Most leaflets are 4โ€“7 millimeters (0.16โ€“0.28 inches) long and 1โ€“4 millimeters (0.039โ€“0.157 inches) wide, and are covered in soft hairs. Flowers are arranged in panicles that grow from leaf axils; each flower sits on a pedicel 7โ€“14 millimeters (0.28โ€“0.55 inches) long, and usually has four lance-shaped sepals 3โ€“4 millimeters (0.12โ€“0.16 inches) long that drop off as the flower opens. Flowers also usually have eight stamens, and the ovary is densely covered in soft hairs. Flowering occurs between September and March. The fruit is a three-winged, broadly egg-shaped capsule that is 13โ€“16.5 millimeters (0.51โ€“0.65 inches) long and 15โ€“20 millimeters (0.59โ€“0.79 inches) wide. This species of Dodonaea grows in forest on sandy soil, most often near watercourses. Its range extends from far south-east Queensland to near the Victorian border in New South Wales.
