About Ditrysinia fruticosa (W.Bartram) Govaerts & Frodin
Ditrysinia fruticosa is a monoecious shrub that typically reaches 1.5 to 2.5 meters (around 5 to 8.2 feet) in height. Its leaves are alternately arranged, and their shape varies from elliptic to lance-elliptic. Mature leaves measure 3 to 7.5 centimeters (1.18 to 3 inches) in length and 0.8 to 3.5 centimeters (0.3 to 1.4 inches) in width. The United States Department of Agriculture classifies this species as facultative to facultative wetland. It is most often found in shaded, moist-to-wet habitats like swampy forests. Because of its facultative preference for wetland conditions, it has also been observed growing in other habitat types including mesic woodlands, floodplain forests, and limestone bluffs.
