About Dismorphia amphione (Cramer, 1779)

Dismorphia amphione, commonly known as the tiger mimic white, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Pieridae. This species can be found ranging from Mexico and the Caribbean south to Brazil and Bolivia. Its wingspan measures approximately 77 millimeters, and Dismorphia amphione is an extremely variable species. The larvae of this butterfly feed on plants from the Inga genus, specifically including Inga sapindoides and Inga densiflora. Dismorphia amphione mimics ithomiine butterflies of the genus Mechanitis — including M. lysimnia, M. polymnia, M. mazaeus, and M. menapis — in both colour pattern and slow, regular flight.
