About Discoglossus galganoi Capula, Nascetti, Lanza, Bullini & Crespo, 1985
This species, commonly called the Iberian painted frog, is a small frog with a broad head and a stout body. Most individuals have longitudinal rows of warts on their backs, though not all individuals develop these warts. The pupils of its eyes are described as resembling an upside-down droplet. Three distinct colour forms exist for this species: a uniform plain greyish-brown shade, a pattern of large dark spots with pale rims, and bright bands running along the back and both sides against a dark background. This frog is endemic to Spain and Portugal. It can be found at altitudes up to 1,940 m (6,360 ft). Its typical habitats include open areas, rough grassland, thickets, woodland verges, swamps, and gulleys, and it is usually found in or near water.
