About Diplopseustis perieresalis (Walker, 1859)

Diplopseustis perieresalis is a moth species that belongs to the family Crambidae. It is naturally widespread across the Oriental region, Australia, and New Zealand. This species was later introduced to the Western Palaearctic realm, where it rapidly expanded its range; it can now be found in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and the Canary Islands. Within the Afrotropics, only one female specimen of this moth has ever been collected; it was gathered in Sudan in 1904. The wingspan of Diplopseustis perieresalis measures approximately 15 mm. Based on observations made in Central Otago, the larvae of this species most likely feed on parts of makura (Carex secta), an endemic sedge native to New Zealand.
