About Diplolepis polita

Diplolepis polita, commonly called the spiny leaf gall wasp, is a species of gall wasp that belongs to the family Cynipidae. This species was first formally described by William Harris Ashmead in 1890. Diplolepis polita induces the formation of galls on multiple wild rose species native to North America, specifically including Rosa arkansana and Rosa acicularis. The galls develop on the leaves of these roses during spring and early summer, and they have a spherical shape with short spikes.
