About Diplolepis mayri (Schlechtendal, 1877)
Diplolepis mayri produces galls that externally resemble the mossy rose gall (also called robin's pincushion) formed by Diplolepis rosae. However, the surface of D. mayri galls is less densely covered, and the outgrowths on these galls are more spine-like. D. mayri galls can occur alongside D. rosae galls on the same host plant. All D. mayri galls are multilocular, and their individual locule chambers have thicker walls than the chambers of D. rosae galls.
