About Diplacus leptaleus (A.Gray) G.L.Nesom

Diplacus leptaleus is a small, hairy annual herb. It can grow along the ground or grow upright, reaching a maximum height close to 14 centimeters. Its oppositely arranged leaves are linear or lance-shaped, and can grow up to 2.5 centimeters in length. The plant produces tubular, wide-faced flowers that are less than one centimeter long. Flower color may be magenta, white, or yellow, and sometimes the flower throat has dark spotting. This species is endemic to the Sierra Nevada region of California and far western Nevada. In this area, it grows in disturbed habitats and on open, rocky slopes.
