About Diplacus bicolor (A.Gray) Hrusa
Diplacus bicolor is an herb that grows to approximately 14 centimeters tall. Its leaves range in shape from oval to linear, growing up to 2.3 centimeters long. The tubular base of the flower is wrapped in a dark-ribbed calyx made of hairy sepals with pointed lobes. The flower corolla measures between 1 and 2 centimeters long, and can be pink or yellow. It usually has longitudinal stripes inside the flower mouth. This species is endemic to the southern Sierra Nevada in California, including areas below Mount Whitney. It grows in bare, disturbed habitats such as exposed talus slopes and roadsides.
