Diospyros maritima Blume is an ebony species that can reach up to 15 metres (50 ft) in height. Its inflorescences each hold up to 10 flowers, and it produces round fruits that reach up to 1.7 cm (1 in) in diameter. This species is native to a broad region spanning from Japan and Taiwan, through Malesia, to northern Australia. It naturally grows in coastal forest habitats.
