About Didymoctenia exsuperata (Walker, 1860)

Didymoctenia is a monotypic moth genus (meaning it contains only one species) in the family Geometridae, subfamily Ennominae. This genus was described by Warren in 1901. The only species in the genus is Didymoctenia exsuperata, which is commonly known as the thick-lined bark moth. This species was first described by Francis Walker in 1860, and it is found in Australia. In its early life stages, caterpillars of this species are brownish white with varying scattered dots, and have brown heads. When the caterpillar reaches its final instar before pupation, its body turns green, and it becomes almost entirely covered in small black dots.
