About Dictyna arundinacea (Linnaeus, 1758)
Dictyna arundinacea (Linnaeus, 1758) is a species of spider in the family Dictynidae. It has a Holarctic distribution, and is found across Britain and northern Europe. Its body length, when legs are excluded, ranges from approximately 2 mm to 3.5 mm, with females being slightly larger than males. Its carapace is dark brown, and its head is covered by five rows of white hairs. The abdomen bears a pattern formed by white hairs, with a gap in the cardiac region and another gap at the rear. Its legs are brownish yellow. Dictyna arundinacea most often builds webs in dried plant heads, and on gorse and heather, but can also build webs on walls and other types of objects.
