About Dicotylichthys punctulatus Kaup, 1855

This species grows to 43 cm (17 in) in total length. It occurs primarily in the western Pacific Ocean, ranging from Moreton Bay to Bass Strait in Australia. It inhabits estuarine areas, coastal waters, and offshore reefs down to a depth of 50 m (160 ft). It is a nocturnal, solitary fish that feeds on hard-shelled invertebrates.
