Dichondra carolinensis Michx. is a spreading perennial plant. Its leaves are 1 to 3 centimeters wide, and its petioles range from 1 to 4 centimeters in length. The native range of this species extends from Virginia to Florida, and west to Arkansas and Texas. It also grows in Bermuda, and has been recorded growing in the Bahamas. It grows in multiple types of plant communities, including pine-oak savannas and woods. It prefers areas with high light levels and dry loamy soil.
