About Dichomeris punctidiscellus (Clemens, 1863)
Dichomeris punctidiscellus, commonly known as the spotted dichomeris moth, is a species of moth in the Gelechiidae family. It was first described by James Brackenridge Clemens in 1863. This moth is found in North America, with recorded ranges extending from southern Quebec, southern Ontario, and Nebraska south to Florida and south-eastern Texas. The wingspan of Dichomeris punctidiscellus measures approximately 18 mm. Its forewings are pale ocherous, dusted with brown; the costa is paler and rather whitish towards the base. There is a brown dot at the base of the fold, two additional brown dots around the middle of the wing, and one or two more brown dots near the end of the disc. An indistinct yellowish line sits near the tip of the forewing, with a brown band located just outside this line. The hindmargin has a series of blackish dots at the base of the cilia. The hindwings are a somewhat plumbeous gray color.
