This species, Diaphorodoris papillata Portmann & Sandmeier, 1960, has a maximum recorded body length of 10 mm. It was originally described from specimens collected at Naples in Italy, and at Villefranche-sur-Mer and Banyuls-sur-Mer in France. Confirmed reports place it from the Strait of Gibraltar through to Israel, with a 2016 report of the species from the Canary Islands.
