About Diaphoreolis viridis (Forbes, 1840)

Diaphoreolis viridis (Forbes, 1840) has a maximum recorded body length of 19 mm. This species was first described from Ballaugh, Isle of Man, located in the Irish Sea. It has been recorded in the northeast Atlantic Ocean, ranging from Greenland and Iceland in the north southward to Roscoff, France. Ecologically, this species feeds on hydroids of the genus Sertularella, with a particular preference for Sertularella rugosa. It occurs in shallow exposed and semi-sheltered rocky habitats, down to 100 m depth overall, though its confirmed recorded depths range from 4 m as the minimum to 10 m as the maximum.
