About Dianthus albens (Sol.)

Dianthus albens is a spreading or tufted herbaceous perennial plant. It has semi-erect to upright stems that grow 35 to 40 cm tall, and bears linear, opposite leaves. Its slender, leafless inflorescence produces one to many flowers that range in color from white to purple, flowering between spring and autumn (September to April). The tips of its petals can be entire, crenate, or more rarely shallowly toothed. The calyx measures 12 to 18 mm in length, and usually has 2 pairs of bracts, though it may sometimes have 1 or 3 pairs. These bracts have papery margins and extend at most two-fifths of the way up the calyx length. When mature, the seed capsule extends roughly 5 mm beyond the calyx.
