About Diachrysia chryson (Esper, 1789)
Scientific name: Diachrysia chryson (Esper, 1789), previously referred to as P. chryson Esp. Technical description and variation: Forewings are brownish fuscous with a purple tinge. The lines on the forewings are dark brown and inconspicuous. The inner line is waved and oblique inwards; the median line is only visible at the costa. Beyond the cell, between veins 7 and 3, there is a large, subquadrate, shining brassy blotch. The area between this blotch and the inner margin is suffused with deep golden brown. Both the brassy blotch and the suffused area are crossed by the fine outer line, which becomes lustrous towards the inner margin. The submarginal line is very obscure and waved, forming the outer edge of the brassy and brown patches. Hindwings are pale bronzy fuscous, and darker towards the termen. The larva is green, with a darker green dorsal line edged in white, and several oblique whitish lateral stripes; its spiracles are white. This species has a wingspan of 44 to 54 mm.
