About Dermogenys collettei Meisner, 2001

Dermogenys collettei is a species of viviparous halfbeak found in freshwater habitats across Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. This species was described in 2001 by Amy Downing Meisner, with its type locality recorded as Kuching in Sarawak. The species' specific name honors American ichthyologist Bruce Baden Collette. This species has been confirmed to exhibit shoaling behavior. Contrary to predictions, it performs this behavior in low predation scenarios, including both low-predation forest stream habitats and more open stream habitats. It does not shoal when exposed to immediate predation risk. The observed behavior of this species indicates it lacks adaptive responses to immediate predation risk.
