About Depressaria depressana Fabricius, 1775

Depressaria depressana, commonly known as Blunt's flat-body or the purple carrot-seed moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. It can be found across most of Europe, and is also present in the Near East, North Africa, and the eastern region of the Palearctic realm. It has been recorded in North America since 2009. This moth has a wingspan ranging from 14 to 20 mm. Adult moths are active from March to May each year. The number of annual generations varies by location: there is one generation per year in the north, two generations in the northern Caucasus, and up to three generations in southern Ukraine. The larvae of Depressaria depressana feed on Daucus carota, Pimpinella, Pastinaca, Seseli, and Peucedanum oreoselinum.
