About Dendropsophus sarayacuensis (Shreve, 1935)

Dendropsophus sarayacuensis (Shreve, 1935), commonly called Shreve's Sarayacu treefrog or the clown tree frog, is a species of frog in the family Hylidae. It occurs in the Amazon Basin of Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, and is presumed to also be present in Colombia. The species is common across parts of its range, specifically Peru and Ecuador. It is a nocturnal, arboreal frog that lives in understorey vegetation in primary tropical rainforest, secondary tropical rainforest, and forest edges. This frog lays its eggs out of water, while its tadpoles develop in water in both temporary and permanent pools.
