About Dendrocopos darjellensis (Blyth, 1845)
Dendrocopos darjellensis is a medium-sized pied woodpecker. It has yellow coloring on the sides of its neck, with black upperparts that bear large white scapular patches. Its flight feathers and the sides of its tail have white barring. Males of this species have a red patch on the nape. It has white cheeks and a long black moustachial stripe that extends to the upper breast. Its underparts are yellow-buff with black streaking, and it has a red vent. It also has a long bill. This species is distributed in Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Tibet. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
