About Dendrobium canaliculatum R.Br.
Dendrobium canaliculatum R.Br. is an epiphytic or lithophytic herb. It produces cone-shaped to onion-shaped pseudobulbs that are 30โ120 mm (1โ5 in) long and 10โ30 mm (0.4โ1 in) wide, and each pseudobulb grows between two and six leaves at its top. The leaves are dark green, deeply channelled, 100โ250 mm (4โ10 in) long and 6โ12 mm (0.2โ0.5 in) wide. The species has a flowering stem 200โ300 mm (8โ10 in) long, which bears between five and thirty resupinate, light brown to caramel-coloured flowers. The flowers are long-lasting, pleasantly scented, 20โ25 mm (0.79โ0.98 in) long and 25โ30 mm (0.98โ1.2 in) wide. Both the sepals and petals are twisted near their tips. The sepals are 10โ15 mm (0.4โ0.6 in) long and 3โ4 mm (0.12โ0.16 in) wide. The petals are spatula-shaped, 13โ18 mm (0.5โ0.7 in) long and about 3 mm (0.1 in) wide. The labellum is white with purplish markings, 10โ13 mm (0.4โ0.5 in) long and 7โ9 mm (0.3โ0.4 in) wide, and has three lobes. The side lobes curve upwards, while the middle lobe has three wavy ridges. Flowering of Dendrobium canaliculatum occurs between August and November.
