About Deltote deceptoria (Scopoli, 1763)
Technical description and variation for Deltote deceptoria (previously referenced under the synonyms L. deceptoria Scop, tineodes Hufn., and atratula Schiff.) (52 d): Forewings are chalk white, with fuscous black markings that are mixed with coarse olive and grey scales. A dark patch appears at the base of the costa. A central fascia is bordered by wavy black inner and outer lines; the outer line projects outward and is dentate beyond the cell, and curves inward on the submedian fold. The orbicular stigma is round and white, with an olive grey centre, and it touches the inner line. The reniform stigma is white, with an olive grey, black-edged lunule, and it touches the outer line. A costal blotch located before the white submarginal line, and the entire terminal area beyond the white submarginal line, are dark. The fringe is olive grey, with a dark middle line, and the outer half is chequered with pale grey. Hindwings are fuscous, with a dark cellspot and a curved whitish outer line. The larva is grass-green, paler on the dorsum with a dark middle line and one white line on each side of the back. Lateral stripes are yellowish white. The head is green, with a narrow white collar. The wingspan of this species ranges from 23–25 mm, and the length of the forewings ranges from 12–13 mm.
