About Delta pyriforme (Fabricius, 1775)

Delta pyriforme is a species of potter wasp, classified in the subfamily Eumeninae of the family Vespidae. This species is distributed across Asia. Four subspecific populations are currently recognized: D. p. circinale (Fabricius, 1804), D. p. nigrocinctum Giordani Soika, 1993, D. p. philippinense (Bequaert, 1928), and D. p. pyriforme (Fabricius, 1775). Male Delta pyriforme have a yellow labrum and clypeus, which contrasts with their overall brown body color. They also have a yellow pronotum. Compared to the related species Delta esuriens, Delta pyriforme lacks a yellow band on the petiole. Unlike Delta pyriforme, the related species Delta conoideum has no yellow markings on its thorax.
