About Delphinium trolliifolium A.Gray
Delphinium trolliifolium A.Gray is a species of larkspur, commonly known as poison delphinium, cow poison, and Columbian larkspur. It is native to Washington, Oregon, and northern California. This wildflower grows between 0.5 meters and just over 1 meter tall. It produces large, shiny, deeply lobed leaves. The upper half of the stem forms an inflorescence, holding widely spaced flowers on long pedicels; the longest pedicels measure over nine centimeters. The flowers are most often a deep, brilliant blue, and the upper two petals may be milky white. On the largest flowers, the spur exceeds two centimeters in length. As its common names suggest, this plant is toxic, especially to livestock. Most larkspur species are toxic to some degree.
