Scientific name: Delphinium scaposum Greene. Delphinium scaposum, commonly called tall mountain larkspur or bare-stem larkspur, is a flowering plant species in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae. It is native to the desert southwestern United States and to Sonora, located in northwestern Mexico. It is a perennial plant that grows up to 60 cm (24 inches) tall. This species prefers dry, gravelly soils, and it is avidly pollinated by bumblebees and hummingbirds. Its diploid chromosome count is 2n=16.
