About Delphinium decorum Fisch. & C.A.Mey.
Delphinium decorum is a species of larkspur that goes by the common names coastal larkspur and yellow-tinge larkspur. This wildflower is native to California and Oregon in the United States. In this region, it grows on the slopes of the coastal ranges, ranging from the San Francisco Bay Area northward to the southern Oregon coast. It produces an erect stem that reaches a maximum height of close to half a meter. Its leaves, which are divided into multiple narrow lobes, are mostly found around the base of the plant. The slender upper stem holds between two and twenty widely spaced flowers. Each flower grows on a pedicel that measures several centimeters long. It has five long, flat sepals that extend outward to give the flower face a star shape, and these sepals are typically deep blue to purple. The plant's petals are similar in color to the sepals, though the top two petals may be paler, ranging to almost white. The flower's spur is very thin and can be nearly two centimeters long.
