About Delphinium ajacis L.

Consolida ajacis (also called doubtful knight's spur or rocket larkspur) is an annual flowering plant in the Ranunculaceae family. This species is native to Eurasia, and has become widely introduced and naturalized across much of North America and other regions outside its native range. It is commonly cultivated in gardens as an ornamental plant, valued for its spikes of blue, pink, or white flowers. Mature plants can reach up to one meter in height. Both the above-ground aerial parts and the seeds of Consolida ajacis contain diterpenoid alkaloids, including the highly toxic compound methyllycaconitine, so the entire plant is classified as poisonous.
