About Delias nysa (Fabricius, 1775)

Delias nysa, commonly known as the yellow-spotted jezebel in its Australian subspecies, is a butterfly belonging to the family Pieridae. It was first formally described in 1775. This species can be found in Australia (including New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria), as well as in New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Its wingspan measures 50 mm. The entire underside of its wings is grey-black. The basal half of the forewing is yellowish, and the hindwing has six separate, small orange submarginal spots. The larvae of Delias nysa feed on various mistletoe species, specifically Amyema gaudichaudii, Korthalsella japonica, Korthalsella breviarticulata, and Korthalsella rubra.
