About Delias nigrina (Fabricius, 1775)

Delias nigrina, described by Fabricius in 1775, is a butterfly commonly called the black Jezebel or common Jezebel (the name common Jezebel is also used for the species Delias eucharis). It belongs to the butterfly family Pieridae. This species is found along the eastern seaboard of Australia, ranging from Queensland through New South Wales to Victoria. Both males and females of Delias nigrina have a wingspan of 56 mm. The larvae of Delias nigrina feed on Amyema cambagei, Amyema congener, Amyema miquelii, Amyema quandang, Dendrophthoe curvata, Dendrophthoe glabrescens, Dendrophthoe vitellina, Muellerina celastroides, and Muellerina eucalyptoides.
