About Deinandra mohavensis (D.D.Keck) B.G.Baldwin
Deinandra mohavensis is an annual herb that reaches 10 to 100 centimeters, or 4 to 40 inches, in height. Its stems are both hairy and glandular. Its leaves are bristly and glandular, with either smooth edges or serrated edges. Its flower heads are produced in clusters or slightly open arrangements. The flower heads are bordered by very glandular phyllaries. Each flower head holds five yellow ray florets, each roughly half a centimeter long, plus six yellow disc florets. This plant is endemic to California. It has a disjunct distribution, found in the southernmost Sierra Nevada, the Mojave Desert, the Peninsular Ranges, and possibly the San Bernardino Mountains. It grows in moist locations within chaparral and riparian zone habitats.
