Deinandra arida (previously classified as Hemizonia arida), which has the scientific name Deinandra arida (D.D.Keck) B.G.Baldwin, is also commonly known as Red Rock tarplant. This is a rare annual plant species that belongs to the Asteraceae family, and is native to California. Deinandra arida grows in clay soils, volcanic soils, and desert dry wash environments, at elevations between 1,000 and 3,000 feet (300–900 m). The species is only confirmed to exist at 10 sites located in the Red Rock Canyon State Park area of the Mojave Desert, in Kern County, California.
