About Decantha borkhausenii (Zeller, 1839)
Decantha borkhausenii (Zeller, 1839) is a moth species in the Oecophoridae family, which are commonly called concealer moths. It is the type species of the genus Decantha, though it was previously classified in the genus Oecophora. This species occurs across most of Europe, excluding Ireland, Great Britain, the Benelux countries, the Iberian Peninsula, most of the Balkan Peninsula, Denmark, and Lithuania. The wingspan of adult Decantha borkhausenii ranges from 11 to 14 mm. Adult moths have yellow and blackish coloration, with brown-colored hindwings, while caterpillars of this species are translucent white. Adults are active and can be found in flight from June through August. The larvae of Decantha borkhausenii feed on pine trees, and they tunnel under the bark of their host trees.
