About Daviesia flexuosa Benth.
Daviesia flexuosa is a hairless, spreading shrub that usually grows up to 2.5 meters (8 feet 2 inches) tall. It has zig-zagged branchlets, with one phyllode at each bend. The phyllodes are sharply pointed, measuring 5 to 43 millimeters (0.20 to 1.69 inches) long and 1 to 2 millimeters (0.039 to 0.079 inches) wide at the base. Flowers are arranged in groups of two to four in leaf axils. They grow on a 1 to 2 millimeter (0.039 to 0.079 inch) long peduncle, with a rachis that reaches up to 1 millimeter (0.039 inches). Each individual flower sits on a 1.5 to 3.0 millimeter (0.059 to 0.118 inch) long pedicel, with oblong bracts about 1 millimeter (0.039 inches) long. The sepals are 3 to 4 millimeters (0.12 to 0.16 inches) long and joined at their base. The upper two sepals lobes are joined for most of their length, while the lower three are triangular and about 0.25 millimeters (0.0098 inches) long. The standard petal is broadly egg-shaped, 7.5 to 9.0 millimeters (0.30 to 0.35 inches) long, 7 to 9 millimeters (0.28 to 0.35 inches) wide, and yellow with a broad red base. The wings are 6.0 to 6.5 millimeters (0.24 to 0.26 inches) long and red, and the keel is 5.0 to 5.5 millimeters (0.20 to 0.22 inches) long and red. Flowering takes place from July to September, and the fruit is a flattened triangular pod 17 to 22 millimeters (0.67 to 0.87 inches) long. This pea species grows in open forest and heathland, near the southern Western Australian coast between Cape Naturaliste and Mount Manypeaks.
